Selecting Utility Software for PC Maintenance
When one talks about system tools, the first one that came to mind would be Norton Systemworks. I have been an avid supporter of Norton’s products in the pass but in my opinion, the Norton Systemworks does not live up to the expectation we would expect from the successor of one of the best utility software, Norton Utilities.
Norton Utilities that has helped thousands of users recovery their lost data, correct disk errors and provides low level access to their system hard drives but as for Norton Systemworks, it has only proven itself to be nothing more than a system hog.
Their crash guard causes more crash than preventing it and their anti-virus software are just about to only software that works, provided you can successfully install it without having software conflicts with their prior versions.
So with misconception of how system utilities don’t really help you in maintaining your PC in tiptop condition, we were rather hesitant to recommend any sort of PC maintenance software to clients, as it has proven to be more trouble than help for our users (read ErrorGuard). However we find TuneUp Utilties 2007 which has proven to vastly improve a malfunctioning OS installation quite good.
The Internet age brings about immense amount of opportunities for those with just simple programming skills to actually make it big. Many of the software on the web are claiming to do things that they couldn't accomplish.
One warns: You may have critical errors on your PC, prompting you to download their software to correct the errors but instead only brings about daily prompts from them asking you to buy their software.
