Norton Internet Security "Review"
Imagine getting a top-of-the-range notebook and to ensure that you're getting the best protection, you bought a retail pack of Norton Internet Security and started installing it.
Halfway through the installation process, a prompt appears about an error occurring. No knowing what to do and given only three options Abort, Retry, Ignore, you click retry but the prompt keeps coming back. When you press abort, the prompt also reappears, so left with no choice, you have to click ignore so that the installation may continues.
After the installation completes, you suddenly lost all Internet connectivity as your NIS's Personal Firewall decided to block all outgoing connections. Thinking that it is probably the firewall rules, you start NIS's control panel and instead of having the ability to check your settings, you're given a prompt that you do not have enough privilege to view your configuration. You try logging on but there were no profile created in the option and when you do manage to logon with a blank password, you're given some garbage character as your username and still NO PRIVILEGE for anything.
You remembered a similiar experience with Norton Antivirus and that you were able to solve the isue by removing and reinstallating the software but problem is, you have no connection, because NIS is stopping you from connecting to the Internet. So in the end you have to stop all services associated with Norton, cripple your system to a unstable condition on your brand new computer, all these just to install something that is suppose to make your system MORE STABLE.
Click here to get NIS off your machine.
Basically, there are uninstall procedure for not just NIS but also Symantec Antivirus - which includes steps to go through the registry to remove entries in it and Norton Antivirus ranging from 2001 onwards.
